All
my life I was blessed with the guidance of the olden times. Coming from a
Chinese family, our “AMA” or grandmother was a strong believer of Feng Shui. To
her everything is not coincidence but rather consequence. Everybody has a role
to play, and we must follow our numbers so we won’t get lost in our path to an
Auspicious Life.
In
the early 80s, I was already in my teens, but still whenever we get sick, our
“AMA” would seek guidance from the Chinese Temple. I really didn’t understand
then why she has to go there, we’ve got doctors in the family, we even got our
own drugstore, YES, our family owns a chain of drugstore that even until now is
very much operational. Before taking any over the counter medicines, 1st
ones to take are the PAPERS, yap you read me right, PAPERS. These are onion
skin type colored papers with Chinese inscriptions (with the use of black ink)
burned & mixed in water for us to drink. YUCK ? You don’t know half of it
LOL. There are also the horns of animals, dried insects and . . . must I go on less you really want to be
nauseous? Well, all of those are either eaten or drank. And yes, they do make
us better.
Then
there are the dates, the right date to get married, to buy a house, to buy a
car. There’s always the right time, unless you want to be ill-fated, better
sure than sorry right ? Right !
When
our “AMA” died, I was only 14. As she left this world, a part of our family
lost its connection. Weekends were no longer “all” of us, the whole clan having
lunch. Seeing each other became lesser and lesser. Initially we still got
together for birthdays, Moon Cake Festivals, Christmas & Chinese New Year.
Then it became less & less. Soon it was only during weddings &
funerals, sad but true.
Despite
this thou, the belief & practice remained with most of us. I for one, in
spite of being brought up in the Christian ways, still believe & follow the
very real practice of Feng Shui.
It is an antediluvian alchemy that gives us
the immense possibility for opulence, health and a congruent life. Traditional
Chinese Feng Shui is a very multifaceted body of knowledge dating back over
5000 years ago. It comprises of science, numerology, astrology, mathematics,
geology, color therapy and even interior design. It teaches us how
to balance energies of any given space to ensure good health and good fortune
for people who dwell in it.
Feng Shui is not a
fad, it’s also not a religion, nor a philosophy or plain superstition. Feng
Shui is the Asian art and science that connects time, space, people and the environment as one
fundamental unit.
Simple explanation : What does Feng Shui means
?
Feng means wind and shui means water. In Chinese culture wind and
water are connected with good health, so good feng shui simply means good fortune, while bad feng shui means bad luck.
How does Feng Shui work ?
Just
as an Doctor reads the pulses of a patient using a stethoscope,
a Feng Shui Master takes compass to check-up your house. I think everybody
knows what the good doctors does, he checks us out, gives us our medicine and
ensure us that the bad cough or colds will be gone in a few days. Similarly the
Traditional Chinese Feng Shui “cures” the house or office using the elements of Fire,
water, Earth, Wood or Metal. These elements unblock the areas of stagnation and awaken the immensely auspicious energies
that have been lying dormant in your domicile. FENG SHUI is the doctor for your
sick home or business.
Come and join me as I start my journey of
learning to the mysterious yet very enriching world of Feng Shui. See how this
retired stay at home mom, followed her calling and with the guidance of our
Kind Lord Jesus Christ embarked into the endeavor of helping others find peace
and happiness. I found out at 43 that it is never too late to start doing what
we really really want.
